DENVER, Colo. (January 5, 2022) – Sherman & Howard announced new appointments into the firm’s leadership ranks for three of its attorneys: Kathleen Johnson was elected to the firm’s Executive Committee that shapes its strategic initiatives and direction; Jessica Broderick and Kendra Follett were named Practice Group Leaders (PGLs) in Tax & Probate and Public Finance, respectively. In their new roles, Broderick and Follett will join the firm’s Practice Group management team, which identifies and implements strategies to enhance the service and value delivered to clients, and manages internal efforts to drive the firm’s culture forward.

Kate Johnson is a member of Sherman & Howard’s Estate and Tax Planning group. Throughout her 15-year tenure with the firm, she has assisted clients with the development and implementation of tax-efficient strategies for the management and transfer of private wealth. A former Tax Practice Group Leader, Johnson continues to represent the firm in the community, serving on two nonprofit boards, and regularly speaking at events. On the Executive Committee, she will join the firm’s DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) taskforce to advance the firm’s work in this area.

Jessica Broderick will assume the Practice Group Leader role in the firm’s Estate and Tax Planning group, formerly held by Johnson. During her 13-year tenure with the firm, she has represented individuals and families in the development of their estate plans and provided advice on business, marital and charitable planning. In her new role, besides driving high standards of client service and revenue growth, she will spearhead recruiting efforts for the group, training and mentoring programs for the group’s junior attorneys, and professional development for the group’s staff.

Kendra Follett, a member who works in the firm’s Las Vegas and Reno offices, will become the Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Public Finance team. During her more than 25 years at Sherman & Howard, she has acted as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, and issuer’s counsel in tax-exempt and taxable financings throughout the State of Nevada, working with state and local governments, universities, transportation systems and other entities that require a broad range of financing structures. In addition to advancing the associate training and mentoring programs in the Practice Group, she will support the continued collaboration within the group to provide our clients with reliable, cost-effective, innovative services and solutions for all types of public finance projects built by bonds and will monitor and advise clients on the changing landscape of financing opportunities.
