Stefan Stein, the CEO of Southwest-based Sherman & Howard, is also paying attention to attendance. While the firm does not have a strict office attendance policy, “if it was a ghost town, we may take further steps,” he said.

But Stein said attendance has yet to become an issue. In fact, it’s gradually improved in recent months since the firm moved into a new Denver headquarters, which is about 50% smaller than its previous office. Now, the firm is planning to expand by about half a floor due to its growth in the associate ranks.

“We made the best projection we could have at the time, but we found that we’ve outgrown our space and need more room,” Stein said.
