From day one, our summer associates become part of the firm.

From learning opportunities such as presentations from practice groups, a Capstone project, working on real matters, client visits, and even courtroom experience to social experiences such as city-wide networking events, team building outings, and a baseball game, our summer associates are immersed in the firm and the city.

Developing skills

Our summer associates begin with a warm welcome to the firm then dive right into learning more about the different areas of practice. Being a full-service firm, we are able to expose our summer associates to each area of law so they have a complete picture of the possibilities and where their strengths lie when deciding their future. The first four weeks of the program, they get to work in different areas of practice, and the final four weeks they get to choose which area they would like to gain more experience. Our summer associates were able to visit the Colorado Supreme Court and even one of our clients to learn more about their business.

Not all work & no play

Of course, Sherman & Howard believes in a work/life balance for our attorneys and staff, so we plan for our summer associates to take part in city-wide networking events with other summer associates and firms, participate in fun team building exercises, and even spend some time taking in a Rockies game. We also have opportunities to lunch with their mentors and coffee breaks to speak with our CEO.
