Denver, Colorado (May 1, 2019) – Law Week Colorado featured the Legal Aid Foundation’s Associates Campaign fundraiser, which collected more than $231,000 from 62 firms across Colorado. Highlighted in the article was Melissa Reagan, Jessica Arett and Spencer Rubin, the Sherman & Howard team who helped to organize donations. Through their hard work and collaboration, the firm reached participation by associates and raised $29,761.50. The firm contributions were recognized with the “Broadening Participation Award.”

The Legal Aid Foundation was founded in 1981 and helps to promote equal access to justice through fundraisers and provides civil legal services for low-income people in Colorado. This was the 15^th year of the Associates Campaign which has continued to be successful in promoting a strong history of support for civil legal aid. The Associates Campaign was initially started by an attorney who wanted to instill a habit of annual giving within younger attorneys.

“They took to heart the goal,” said Jessica Arett, an associate in the Litigation Group. “It’s lawyers who support legal aid, and they understand how important the work is that they’re doing.”

Melissa Reagan, a member in the Litigation Group and the firm’s Associate Coordinator also commented, “Getting younger attorneys to get involved in this now is instrumental. We want to give back and have a meaningful contribution.”
