Remembering Our Friend and Colleague Thomas “Tom” Quigley

August 30, 2019 — We regret to announce that our colleague, mentor, and friend Thomas “Tom” Quigley, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2019.

Tom is remembered by his colleagues for his good-natured spirit, sense of humor, and dedication to his legal career.

“For years, Tom was the “go-to” guy on almost any legal issue,” said Arizona Office Managing Partner, Gregory Falls, “he always had the answer, and he was the social glue that picked us up when we needed it. He was a great guy, and he will be missed.”

Tom began his career at Mohr Hackett in 1988, a firm that later combined with Sherman & Howard in 2009.  For more than 30 years, he developed his trial and appellate practice, focusing on a wide variety of complex disputes including medical malpractice and personal injury, estate and trust litigation, corporation and limited liability control, and divorce cases requiring the valuation and distribution of business assets. Tom was an associate editor of the Arizona State Law Journal, a member of the State Bar of Arizona Appellate Practice and Intellectual Property Sections, and the Maricopa County Bar Association Litigation Section. Tom’s passion and dedication for law led him to take on many Pro Bono cases in an effort to provide access to those who could not otherwise afford representation.

He will be missed as a dependable and cherished member of our team. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Castleford Methodist Church in Castleford, Idaho. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019, at West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho. An Arizona memorial service is being planned.

Memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
