Alyssa Levy provides incisive counsel to Colorado companies and national employers on a range of state and federal employment law matters arising under Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other statutes. She also assists employers in defending Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) citations and advises on safety and health compliance and concerns.

Alyssa advises employers on all aspects of their employment relationships, including employment contracts, workplace policies, employee relations, leave laws, independent contractor issues, and covenants not to compete. She also provides guidance in conducting workplace investigations. Before joining Sherman & Howard, Alyssa focused on workers’ compensation litigation and defended employers in personal injury and toxic tort lawsuits.

Experience

  • Successfully and economically resolved an employer’s noncompete claims against a former employee for use of trade secrets.
  • Served as second chair on a trial team to secure a verdict on claims of race and national origin discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation, and won summary judgment on disability claim.
  • Serve as lead employment counsel to Denver-based mobile technology company.
  • Defended against numerous OSHA citations and assisted and represented employers in investigation process.
  • As a member of the defense team, successfully resolved class and collective actions involving multiple claims, including allegations of FLSA violations, breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation prior to scheduled six-week trial.
  • Investigated and successfully defended against numerous Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) claims involving sensitive allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination.
