Two Sherman & Howard Attorneys Elected to the American College of Bond Counsel

September 19, 2016 – Sherman & Howard attorneys Kendra S. Follett and Stanley M. Raine have been elected Fellows of the American College of Bond Counsel (ACBC).  They are two of only 13 bond lawyers nationwide selected for this honor in 2016.

Ms. Follett, who practices in the firm’s Reno and Las Vegas offices, has acted as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and issuer’s counsel in tax exempt and taxable financings throughout Nevada.  She has experience with a wide range of financing structures, including traditional fixed rate, variable rate and multimodal structures involving various forms of credit enhancement and liquidity.  Kendra is one of only two Nevada lawyers elected to the American College of Bond Counsel, the other is Sherman & Howard attorney John Swendseid.

Mr. Raine is based in the firm’s Denver office.  He has many years of experience as bond counsel on complex revenue and project-based financings, including single family mortgage revenue, multi-family housing revenue, utility revenue, general airport revenue and unemployment compensation revenue bonds, and bank direct purchase transactions.  He specializes in complex financings, as well as more “traditional” variable rate, multi-modal, credit-supported transactions. Stan is one of only six Colorado lawyers elected to the American College of Bond Counsel, including Sherman & Howard attorney Michael Groshek who was previously elected to the ACBC.

About the American College of Bond Counsel

The American College of Bond Counsel was formed in 1995 for the purpose of recognizing lawyers who have established reputations among their peers for their skill, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of bond law. The College believes that a bond lawyer’s expertise can best be judged by his or her peers and has sought to admit to membership in the College only bond lawyers that have long experience and outstanding reputations in the field of municipal bond law. Membership in the College is extremely limited and admission as a Fellow (i.e. member of the College) is a recognition of the lawyer’s accomplishments and legal expertise in the field of bond law.
