Stephen Hess Interviewed by The New York Times on Russian Athlete Ban

February 8, 2018 – The New York Times interviewed sports attorney, Stephen Hess, regarding the doping Russian scandal. Russia recently failed to overturn a ruling that banned 47 athletes and coaches from participating at this year’s 2018 Winter Olympics.

The court ruled that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had the right to decide which Russian athletes could be invited to participate in the games, if the committee found them “clean” to do so.

Mr. Hess the Chairman of the Appeals Tribunal for the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation said “The fact the I.O.C chose not to issue a blanket ban was a consequence of its efforts to reward clean athletes.”
