Sherman & Howard Closes Deal for Winery Company in Oregon

September 17, 2018 – It is common for businesses to start with an idea or sense of gratitude for a culture, product and/or service. The Great Oregon Wine Company was founded by a love and admiration for the Pacific Northwest wine culture. The company holds a commitment to integrity in every bottle and a promise to their customers to consistently produce a high-quality product. For the past six years, the company’s Rascal Pinot Noir has been among the top-selling Oregon Pinot Noirs.

On August 30th, The Great Oregon Wine Company acquired Duck Pond Cellars, represented by Sherman & Howard attorneys, Lyle Wallace and Bill Peffer. Duck Pond Cellars is known for award-winning Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The company was founded in 1991 by Doug and Jo Ann Fries. The purchase of the winery includes the winemaking facility and tasting room along with 300 acres in Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley and Umpqua Valley.

The Great Oregon Wine Company will continue to work with the Duck Pond Cellars team to produce great wine and continue to receive high accolades from important wine publications. The founders of Duck Pond Cellars will continue to be involved to help facilitate the transition.
