June 20, 2018 – Outside of running successful law practices, Sherman & Howard attorneys are actively involved in their communities. A prime example is Lindsay Hesketh and Yijee Jeong who will be volunteering with the ASU Law High School Diversity Pipeline Initiative.
The mission of the ASU Law High School Diversity Pipeline Initiative is to enhance the diversity of the legal profession by fostering a path way for high school students that encourages an interest in law, promotes critical thinking and writing skills, while also nurturing the necessary values to succeed academically and professionally. The initiative supports high school students as they move forward in their educations and careers.
The program includes The High School Inns of Court which teams up high school students, law students and attorneys to prepare for the Sandra O’Connor College of Law Law Conference and Moot Court Competition. Students also participate in a summer writing program and a paid internship program.
“As a beneficiary of similar initiatives, I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with the students and to provide the kind of support that has been integral in my legal career,” said Yijee Jeong, an Associate in the firm’s Litigation Group. Yijee has a broad-based complex commercial litigation practice with a particular emphasis on business matters.
“I am excited to work with these students while they prepare for moot court competitions and watch them grow into professional roles,” said Lindsay Hesketh an Associate in the firm’s Labor & Employment Group. Lindsay focuses on representing employers in employment law cases, resolving commercial disputes, and counseling clients on best practices.
Through mentorships and initiatives similar to this, the Initiative helps to show younger generations they have different career options available to them. It helps to give them a step up as they prepare for the futures while providing additional support in their lives.
