DENVER, Colo. (August 10, 2020) — Law Week Colorado highlighted a recent webinar led by Mark Williams and Rebecca Fischer geared at helping small businesses navigate the economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The article, titled “Help Wanted: Lawyers Needed to Ward Off Eviction Wave,” warns of the steady rise of evictions in Colorado and calls for lawyers to volunteer their skills and experience to help tenants and small businesses.

As a part of the organized effort to provide legal aid, Mark Williams and Rebecca Fischer hosted a webinar with ColoradoCOVIDrelief.org on eviction strategies for small businesses and advice on negotiating with landlords to avoid eviction. Williams noted that there are no current restrictions on eviction for commercial tenants under Colorado law: “Realistically, there is an incentive for a landlord to try to work something out right now. Because if the commercial tenant goes, who are you going to get? It behooves everybody to try to work something out.”
