Sherman & Howard Attorney Mark Williams Appointed Co-Chair of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation Board of Governors

DENVER, Colo. (October 21, 2021) Sherman & Howard proudly announced that attorney Mark W. Williams recently was appointed Co-Chair of the Board of Governors of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC), the nation’s first regional economic development entity that brings together 70 counties, cities and economic development groups from throughout Metro Denver and Northern Colorado to promote and support the mutual growth of the region’s talent and businesses.

The Board of Governors is comprised of investors in the Metro Denver EDC and creates its annual work plan, which acts as a blueprint for the organization’s strategic priorities and programs for the year. Board members serve on special task forces and committees that carry out the programmatic work that is identified in the plan, offering their professional expertise to achieve optimum results.

“Mark’s deep background in corporate governance and federal, state and local regulatory compliance and industry experience in financial services, telecommunications and other highly relevant sectors to Denver and the Northern Colorado region will be vital in our organization’s annual planning,” said J. J. Ament, CEO at Metro Denver EDC. “We’re excited to welcome Mark to his new role and look forward to his leadership in helping position us and our partners for growth in the next year.”

“The work of the Board of Governors represents a tremendous opportunity to plan and deliver on the economic and employment promise of the Denver metro area, state of Colorado, and Western U.S. as a whole,” said Williams. “Our organization is rich with diverse people and views and expertise, and the ability to openly engage with them to chart the future of the Metro Denver EDC is very rewarding.”

Williams brings more than 35 years of practical experience in providing guidance to large national and international corporations, regional businesses, and entrepreneurial ventures on wide-ranging litigation, general business, and transactional matters. He serves as trial counsel and advisor on large-figure, corporate governance, officer and director liability, business tort, commercial, financial institution, and telecommunications matters.

Williams was recognized by Best Lawyers in America as a “Lawyer of the Year” in the areas of Technology Law and Communications Law. He has also been designated as a Master Advocate by the prestigious National Institute for Trial Advocacy, NITA’s highest designation.
