Sherman & Howard Adds Top Family Law Team in Denver

DENVER (September 28, 2017) – Sherman & Howard announced today that Rebecca Alexander, Marte Timmers, and Diane Wozniak have joined the firm’s premiere Family Law Group. The additions increase the firm’s number of Denver-based family law practitioners and further the firm’s mission of continued growth in private client representation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rebecca, Marte, and Diane to the firm,” said Chief Executive Officer Greg Densen. “Their high asset family law practice is complemented by the firm’s strong platform in business, trusts and estates, real estate, and tax, and provides private clients sophisticated representation under one roof.”

A seasoned practitioner in her field, Rebecca represents high-net-worth individuals in complex divorce proceedings involving substantial assets, business valuations, tax, and trust issues. Rebecca is well-regarded for her diplomatic and creative approach to dispute resolution as well as her ability to achieve positive outcomes in cases involving difficult parenting issues. She also is known for her extensive experience with premarital agreements.  Highly respected by judges and fellow attorneys as a leading practitioner in the field of family law, Rebecca recently became a Fellow with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.  Recognized as a trailblazer in the legal community, Rebecca was awarded the prestigious Mary Lathrop Award by the Colorado Women’s Bar Association in 2017 for her contributions to the community through legal and civic activities.  She also received the Chambers USA – Women in Law “Inspiring Role Model in Promoting Gender Diversity in the Legal Profession” award and was selected as “Lawyer of the Year” in family law by Best Lawyers in 2017.

Marte is a skilled negotiator and an experienced family and domestic relations litigator. Drawing on her commercial litigation experience, Marte represents private clients in matters involving complex business valuation issues, all aspects of divorce, parental responsibilities and child support, and other nuances of family law including adoption and common law marriage.  As a former magistrate judge for the Denver Juvenile Court, Marte understands the intersection between law and family, especially in matters involving children.

Diane brings strong project and case management skills to the firm in order to drive efficiencies in her complex family law practice. She has litigated matters related to same-sex marriage, common law marriage, dissolution of marriage, legal separation, allocation of parental responsibilities, and guardianship.  Diane’s approach to advocacy yields a high rate of settlement resulting in the preservation of client resources, both emotional and financial.

“We are excited to join Sherman & Howard,” said Rebecca Alexander. “The firm’s core focus on developing a multidimensional service platform aimed at helping all types of clients makes the firm an ideal fit for our group.”
