Denver’s KOA NewsRadio 850AM Interviewed Jessica Levy About Olympic Brand Use

February 12, 2018 – Denver’s KOA NewsRadio 850AM interviewed Sherman & Howard’s trademark attorney, Jessica Levy, regarding the use of Olympic intellectual property.

Local businesses should be aware of the limitations of promotions during the Olympics. “If you are a business you may not use any of the Olympic intellectual property, that includes trademarks, names, hashtags, logos, symbols.  You can’t use any of those in connection with business activities that you are promoting during the period of the Olympics or any other time unless you are an official Olympic sponsor.”  U.S. Olympic Committee’s (USOC) rational to having such strict rules is to protect the sponsors who are funding the team, “it’s all about funding the team for them,” said Levy.
