DENVER (April 5, 2023) ‑ With an active trademark and patent practice, Mike Kosma has worked around the world to protect the intellectual property of big corporate names and entrepreneurs. Now, he comes to Sherman & Howard, where he can leverage the firm’s many practice areas to offer a full-service law firm to address all his clients’ needs.

With 15 years of experience specializing in both trademark and patent prosecution and litigation, Kosma has primarily practiced from a base on the East Coast, representing domestic and international clients, including those from as far away as Australia. His additional experience includes litigating breach of contract cases and general commercial disputes.

Kosma focuses his practice on contested matters in federal courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  His practice has a heavy emphasis in the medical, computer, electrical and mechanical arts, but also touches the more creative side through his representation of companies involved in the global apparel market.

“I am excited to begin offering my clients a variety of options for their full-service legal needs,” Kosma said. “It will be nice to be able to engage one of our firm’s outstanding real estate or employment attorneys, for example, if my clients have such needs. Kosma leverages his years of patent and trademark prosecution experience to counsel clients and provide the best enforcement strategies. Kosma has combined his patent litigation and prosecution experience to represent clients in nearly 20 Inter Partes Review (IPR) and Covered Business Method Review (CBM) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He has also successfully represented clients in numerous Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceedings, including TTAB trials, Federal Circuit appeals, and enforcement actions in the federal district courts.
