2019 Summer Associate Program

Sherman & Howard is excited to announce additional opportunities for its 2019 Summer Associate Program.

PROGRAM DETAILS. Sherman & Howard’s Summer Associate program delivers an authentic, complete experience featuring four distinct features:

  • Practice Selection. Students will select an area of law to focus on for the duration of their summer assignment at Sherman & Howard. Students may choose from one of the firm’s five core service areas: Corporate, Labor & Employment, Litigation, Public Finance & Bonds, Trusts & Estates.
  • Capstone Project. Our summer associate program is centered on our practice-specific capstone project. This rigorous assignment will enhance students’ research, writing, and analytical skills. The summer associate program will provide an opportunity for students to present their professional capstone to attorneys across the firm and use it as a professional writing sample post-graduation.
  • Mentorship + Training. Mentorship and training are essential components of the Sherman & Howard summer associate program. Summer associates will be partnered with an Associate and Member to create a personalized and dedicated mentorship team. Mentors support summer associates in a variety of ways, including providing work assignment guidance, coaching, and feedback.  In addition to the support from mentors, our professional development skills training series is specifically designed to support your progression from law student to lawyer.
  • Teambuilding + Social. Outside of your working assignments, Sherman & Howard’s summer associate program includes several teambuilding and social activities aimed at making your summer one to remember!

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE.  We are seeking entrepreneurial-minded second-year law students to join our existing Summer Associate Program and to learn alongside nationally-recognized attorneys in a premier, multidisciplinary law firm.  Ideal participants are those who take a proactive approach in seeking out unique opportunities that will meaningfully advance their legal careers.  Candidates must have a work ethic that supports their commitment to the practice of law as well as strong academic records, demonstrated leadership skills, and significant law school or community involvement.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.  As a Sherman & Howard summer associate, summer associates will walk away from our program with a complete picture of life as a full-time practicing attorney in an Am Law 200 law firm all while earning a competitive summer salary.  The program will run for 10 weeks starting in late May to late July.  Interested candidates should submit a resume, transcript, and cover letter expressing your entrepreneurial attributes and practice area interests to the following address: recruit@shermanhoward.com.
