Michael Wright has more than 43 years of legal experience handling bankruptcy and commercial, contract, and other civil advice and litigation.

Michael has represented clients in commercial, contract and other litigation in federal, state and appellate courts. He has represented general contractors, subcontractors, and homebuilders in numerous bench and jury trials in federal and state courts, as well as in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In the area of bankruptcy, Michael has represented creditor rights and insolvency law. Clients include a large life insurance company as a secured lender on commercial properties where the borrower sought bankruptcy protection from foreclosure and appointment of a receiver. He has also represented secured and unsecured creditors of a large home builder in Phoenix, Arizona with a multitude of bankruptcy issues such as use of cash collateral, lift stay motions, marshaling of assets and personal guaranties of the principals.


  • Represents the Arizona Department of Health Services in the defense of Arizona Superior Court lawsuits challenging ADHS’s Agency Actions under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.
  • Represents the Arizona Department of Health Services in medical marijuana registry identification cardholder disciplinary proceedings in the Office of Administrative Hearings.
  • Consultant to employees of the Arizona Department of Health Services in all facets of their implementation of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and Department Rules implementing the Act.
  • In a six month jury trial, successfully defended and pursued counterclaims for a car dealer involving multi-million dollar fraud and racketeering claims (at the time, the longest jury trial in Maricopa County).
  • Lead counsel in a thirty-day jury trial, successfully defended a non-profit corporation on a $10,000,000.00 breach-of-employment contract claim and successfully obtained a $2,000,000.00 judgment on a counterclaim for breach of contract.
  • On behalf of a nonprofit corporation, successfully recovered over $5,000,000.00 in damages arising from a breach-of-fiduciary-duty claim.
  • Representation of clients in numerous jury and bench trials in federal and state court.
  • Represented 11 Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) institutions in approximately 70 litigation matters pending in state and federal court.
  • Represented clients before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Successfully defended RTC as a Receiver for Southwest Savings & Loan at trial and on appeal to the Ninth Circuit against fraud claims (Opinion of Ninth Circuit at 93-15048).
  • One of five trial lawyers in Maricopa County selected by the Arizona House of Representatives to be interviewed to commence impeachment proceedings.
  • Represented general and sub contractors and homebuilders in numerous breach of contract / construction defect cases.
  • Represented creditors, secured and unsecured, in a number of cases arising out of Chapters 7 and 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.
  • Represented an Arizona municipality as Town Attorney where his responsibilities included advising the town on general municipal questions, on open meeting law questions, working on zoning and related land use issues, and other matters affecting the town.
