Jordan Fox leads the only big firm family law practice group in the region. As a former Chemical and Petroleum Engineer, Mr. Fox provides his clients with a unique ability to analyze complex financial matters. Having dedicated his legal practice to family law for more than 20 years, Mr. Fox is a recognized and trusted legal advocate with the judges across the state. His expertise if often sought after as a presenter to both attorneys and judges on complex family law issues. He also serves as an expert witness and consults with other attorneys on family law topics.

 

Mr. Fox’s typical clients are professionals, owners or executives of companies and beneficiaries of complex trusts. The issues facing these individuals require organization and an ability to deal with large issues without missing the small details. Family law touches on many different areas of the law. Sherman & Howard provides a platform that allows Mr. Fox to use the firm’s expertise in these complex areas for the benefit of his clients.

Representative Matters
  • Sophisticated divorce practice focusing on complex financial matters
  • Successfully argued that $300,000,000 trust was client’s separate property in multi-state divorce litigation.
  • Complex divorce involving multiple family business, international litigation, and interrelated litigation over control of the family estate. Involves interaction with multiple law firms throughout the country handling different facets of the cases.
  • Litigated valuation issues over private equity firm to allow spouse to receive future income streams earned, but not received, during the marriage.
  • Completed settlement of divorce involving family oil and gas company and real estate partnerships.

 

Expert Testimony

  • In re the Marriage of Berringer, 2015 DR 30034, Chafee County, Colorado (2016).
    • Retained as a testifying witness to opine on the validity of an irrevocable trust and the impact of that alleged trust on the parties’ dissolution of marriage.  Case proceeded to trial on January 26, 2017.
  • In re the Marriage of Morrison, 2015 DR 31142, Arapahoe County, Colorado (2016).
    • Retained as a consulting/testifying witness to opine on validity of parties’ pre-marital agreement.  Case settled prior to written report being finalized.
  • In re the Marriage of Oswald, 2008 DR 258, Arapahoe County, Colorado (2016).
    • Provided expert report and testimony on reasonableness and necessity of professional fees incurred in this matter.
  • In re the Marriage of Sartin, 2015 DR 30087, Douglas County, Colorado (July 2015).
    • Provided expert report and appeared for testimony on reasonable and necessity of attorney fees.  Objecting party did not appear and thus testimony was unnecessary.
